Hi friends, my we sure have had the strangest, MILD winter this year here in PA, some cold and snow but not nearly what we usually get. I am moving ahead to spring! Got my spring flowers out to brighten up a stand...don't mind the "to grandmother's house we go" candle there;)

I won these beeswax prairie gals in a giveaway last year from Sandy at the Old country cupboard and had them in a basket so I decided to put them on this plate and surround them with some wax raspberries:)

My German shepherd statue is over by my oil lamp now so he can bask in the soft glow:)

I will admit as much as I love spring I do miss my soft ambient lighting in the spring & summer months, here in PA we have daylight savings time so in the summer it is light out till almost 9 pm!

I have an addiction as well it seems....this is a cabinet my husband built for me in the bedroom, just cheap pine, whitewashed, I've had it for several years now and had different things inside but now......

it houses my growing collection of Amish fiction books:D Do you see a problem here?? I am down to 3/4 of a shelf left then what??? Perhaps they will have to move to a larger cabinet! I love to read at night before bed, some nights I will sit up reading till midnight and the Amish fiction just hits the spot with me:) Speaking of Amish~ I am presently working on making some Amish dolls for the consignment shop...I just used a regular prim doll pattern but had to make the clothes patterns up myself. I am waiting to get the straw hats I had to order online for the fellas, then I'll be showing them;) Hope you all have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by to visit!

It's time for spring to appear and since we can't change the weather outside why not change it inside.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Amish dolls and all those books aren't a problem... you can never have too many books.
You'll just have to have him make another shelf.
Love your spring touches Carmen. I am ready for spring even though we have had a very mild winter too. If I was a reader I would head for those books too. I love anything having to do with the Amish.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Kim :)
I can't wait to see your dolls, Carmen~ I'll bet they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love your pine cabinet, and looks like you have quite a collection of books!
I'm looking forward to spring this year too... and we also have daylight savings so in the middle of summer it stays daylight here until nearly 10:00. (But I LOVE it! :D)
I love reading the same books!!! Love, love, love reading them and have been known to read an entire book in one day! Enjoyed your pictures of the different lights. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI am patiently waiting for spring myself. We have a mild winter as well.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy the pictures of your home and really like the peek in the bookshelf.
Here in Oregon the weather during Winter months has always been messed up. Either will get snow one year and the next nodda lotta nothing. CRAZY weather I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers and the cozy lights! I think I just might decorate for Spring soon.
Love your cabinet. There is nothing like cozy candle light...so pretty.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Hi Carmen! I see that you follow my primitives blog so I thought I would come over here and meet you. =]
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are beautiful, can't wait for the real ones... daffodils are my favorites!
I love your collection of Amish books. With 3 kids still at home, I don't have much time for reading. Especially now that I blog, I really don't have time to read, lol. But I do want to get back to it and these books are my first choice. I have a couple, would love to have a collection like yours. =]
Nice to meet you! Have a delightful week, my new friend~
Hey Carmen..I love your spring touches..I have wax bunnys that will be making an appearance next month along with eggs etc.;) we too don't get dark till way after 9-9:30pm in the spring/summer..will be nice to get those back..I hate that it gets dark here by 5pm in the winter..have a great day..and looking forward to seeing your prim dollies.;)
ReplyDeleteI love lighting with oil lamps, too. That is one of my favorite things about winter. Those wax prairie girls are so cute and look good with the raspberries. I love to read at night, too. I think you're just going to have to get a bigger cabinet, LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, you would be proud of my purchase today. I got a hardback Beverly Lewis of one of her series (Heritage of Lancaster County) for $1 !!! I am so proud of it. I love your cabinet.
ReplyDeleteHi Carmen..I'm catching up..somehow got behind on everything...
ReplyDeleteHow can we not think of spring with the Daffidils popping up everywhere and like you said this winter hasn't really been winter like we know it.. No complaints here for sure but it does lend us to changing up thigs to match the Sprin like weather we are all having... Love you changes and love your Cabinet full of books.. I love reading ..I may have to get into reading the Amish books..I'd like them I'm sure.
Have a great weekend coming..
Hugs
Tonya
It has been unseasonably warm here too...not much of a winter! I was wanting a good snow, but now I'm pushing for spring. It's a beautiful day here too!
ReplyDeleteLooks really springy at your house! Love your rusty pitcher of flowers! So cherry! And love that cabinet too!
Have a great day, Carmen!
